Probiotics and Paraprobiotics: Why They Are Good For You

Here is a whole new reason to love Blossom Water: Paraprobiotics. You have always loved Blossom Water for its flavor. And its fragrance…don’t even get me started. Blossom Water smells amazing. The new Blossom Water, launching this summer, will keep all of its incredible attributes—flavor, aroma, low calories, floral goodness—plus paraprobiotics! We are adding Staimune®, a patented probiotic-derived ingredient that is shelf-stable but still offering  the proven immune benefits of refrigerated probiotics.

“Staimune is…made with inactivated GanedenBC30®*, a probiotic strain that has rigorous scientific backing and has earned widespread consumer trust…Staimune interacts with immune cells lining the digestive tract. These cells constitute fully 70% of the immune system, and Staimune helps ready their response to system challenges and stressors when it’s taken regularly.  So consumers might want to consider a product like Blossom Water as part of their daily hydration regimen. Blossom Water will be the first water to incorporate Staimune, and we at Kerry are really excited to see this partnership bloom.”

Sounds amazing right? But what is a probiotic and why are we using an inactivated one (paraprobiotic)?

Probiotics are the “good” or friendly bacteria that promote a healthy digestive tract and a healthy immune system. Doctor WebMD describes probiotics as “live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. We usually think of these as germs that cause diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.” (https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/what-are-probiotics#1)

Inactivated Probiotics, also called paraprobiotics,  are shelf-stable and do not need to be refrigerated like live strains. Countless studies show that inactivated probiotics “contain the same immune system-stimulating DNA which makes them just as effective when inactivated, as when consumed as live microorganisms in dairy products such as yogurt.” (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/02/040202064023.htm)
